Established in 1976, Anup Institute of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation (AIOR) is a trusted name in Orthopaedics in India. We are proud to announce that AIOR has been accredited by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as a Post Graduate Orthopaedic Teaching Centre for the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) Orthopaedic program. This recognition highlights our commitment to excellence in orthopedic education, research, and patient care.
Under the leadership of Dr. R.N. Singh and Dr. Ashish Singh, our institute takes a holistic approach to education, aiming to teach post-graduate doctors not only how to excel in their medical careers but also how to lead fulfilling lives. We provide specialized training through fellowships in various orthopedic subspecialties such as arthroplasty, arthroscopy, trauma, spine, shoulder, pediatric orthopedics, and Orthopedic Oncology, as well as research fellowships. Our emphasis is on evidence-based medicine, research, and instilling values of sincerity and discipline in our students.

Masters in Orthopaedic Surgery – DNB Orthopaedics
Our institution has a unique approach to specialized postgraduate training in Orthopedics. Each day, we commence with a 7:30 AM class for discussions on admissions, pre-operative and post-operative cases. Postgraduates also deliver short presentations, with consultants present to provide their input based on the latest updates from the last 24 hours. We thoroughly discuss fractures and their treatment options during this academic meeting. After the meeting, hospital rounds are conducted, and it's mandatory for all DNB trainees to participate. Subsequently, trainees are assigned to their respective duties, whether it's in the OPD, Casualty, Wards, or OT.
All our students are required to complete a thesis, and it must be accepted for publication before they can take their qualifying degree examination. We conduct rigorous monthly reviews of their logbooks to ensure compliance and progress.

Yes,
BENGALURU: Last week, the parliamentary standing committee on health recommended that the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) qualification awarded by the National Board of Examination (NBE) shall be equivalent to Doctor of Medicine (MD).
Yes,
DNB is slightly difficult to pass than MD. It is because of some of the factors like: OSCEs, different set of examiners, anxiety, different place of examination etc.
Every year 2 primary DNB and 2 secondary Orthopaedic DNB candidates are taken in through the June DNB entrance exam. The postgraduates are posted in OPD, Casualty, Wards and in the OT. There are general and private wards where the PG will get exposed to manage the patients on a one-to-one basis. For the first 4-6 weeks, the fresh PGs must observe the working of the hospital in the casualty, wards and OPD. Following this, they must observe the working of the OT. The OPD’s are on all day long. Casualty duties are 24-hour duties which will be gruelling and tedious, but they train you in and out. OT runs all day every day except on Sundays when cases may be posted if there are emergencies.
7.30 am daily class for discussion of Admissions, Pre-ops and post op cases. This is followed by a short presentation by the Pgs. The consultants are present in the meeting and last 24 hours update is taken. All the fractures are discussed with their treatment options.

Working environment is very friendly and it’s like a family for 3 /2 years which you spend there. One must keep in mind that discipline and respect towards work and patients are of utmost priority in the functioning of the hospital.
Post graduate trainees are in the hospital from 7.30 am and as per duty schedule. One shouldn’t consider this as a deciding criterion as one won’t get to see the variety of patients in any DNB institute all over India. The more time one spends at the hospital, the more experience he/she will gain.
AIOR had DNB accreditation and 3 batches passed with flying colours but due to change in rules and regulations we discontinued it.
Academic program- A well planned academic programme is followed. Daily morning class supplemented with regular classes by consultants. You must keep in your mind, that this is a post graduate course, and no one will spoon feed you. You must make an active effort. Whoever makes the effort gets credit and support. The PGs are encouraged to publish papers, present at conferences.
Leaves are strictly monitored and in according to the National Board limit.
